Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency, conducted an early morning inspection of ongoing dredging works at key flood-prone areas in the constituency on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
The inspection forms part of efforts to address perennial flooding in the area and ensure proper drainage to mitigate the impact of the rainy season on residents and businesses.
Weija-Gbawe residents are experiencing severe flooding issues, with recurring incidents causing displacement, property damage, and disruption to daily life.

The flooding is attributed to inadequate drainage infrastructure, poor waste disposal practices, and, in some cases, the spillage of water from the Weija Dam.
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Shaib commended the technical teams for their dedication and urged them to maintain efficiency in the execution of the project.
He, therefore, expressed his commitment to building a safer and more resilient Weija-Gbawe, stating, “Together, we will build a safer and more resilient Weija-Gbawe.”
