The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for extortion and impersonating officials of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce.
The two suspects, Foster Delord, 40, and Prince Worvi, 38, who claim to be ex-military officers, were arrested after police received a complaint that they were visiting various gold buyers, falsely claiming to be officials of the Gold Board Taskforce.
Exhibits retrieved from the suspects include one handcuff, one pepper spray, one electric shocker, one set of uniform, and GH₵ 500 in cash.
The suspects have been arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court and remanded into police custody pending further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Regional Police Command has advised the public to remain vigilant, especially when individuals approach them posing as state officials.
“The Regional Police Command wishes to advice the public to be cautious of individuals claiming to be officials of government agencies without proper identification.”
