A night security guard has been found dead in the Dobile Electoral Area.
The victim, identified as Yahya Issa, popularly known as Soja, was found dead in the early hours of Saturday, September 20, 2025.
The incident has shocked residents in the area, who have called on the police to investigate the matter and bring the offenders to book.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Issah Nura Danwana, speaking to journalists, disclosed that he was informed of the incident by National Security and had rushed to the scene.
He said. There were many dark spots in the area, raising concerns over the security situation in the area.
“Street lights remain a major issue. We have worked on 378 lights and repaired 166, but there is still a deficit of about 400. We are following up with the Ministry of Energy to ensure that more lights are fixed. Many dark spots have been lit in recent weeks, but more needs to be done,” the MCE said.
He added that the crime scene was only about 400 metres from a police station and close to the new market.
Police have since conveyed the body to the Upper West Regional Hospital mortuary for autopsy and further investigations.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area
Zakaria Ibrahim has expressed worry over the incident.
According to him, the victim was a night watchman at the Wa Regional Market.
“Before we arrived, a knife was found lying on his chest. His face was badly smashed, with blood flowing from the forehead. From what we gathered, the attackers may have used a block to hit his head,” he said.
