The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Apaak, has tasked the Complementary Education Agency to urgently establish a comprehensive database of all learners to enhance planning, drive effective service delivery, and attract substantial support from international development partners.
Speaking at a short ceremony in Accra where he presented a fleet of computers and desktop printers to Regional Directors of the Agency, Dr Apaak emphasised that accurate and verifiable data remains the bedrock of modern educational administration.
According to him, having a robust repository of learner statistics would equip the Agency with the necessary leverage to justify funding requests, while guaranteeing that state resources and donor support earmarked for non-formal and complementary education reach the intended beneficiaries without leakages.
He directly charged the Regional Directors to treat the database initiative as an absolute priority in their daily operations, reminding them that reliable field data is essential for backing up policy decisions at the central level.
Dr Apaak also offered reassurance regarding the legal framework governing the institution, disclosing that the Agency’s Legislative Instrument (L.I.) will soon be laid and passed in Parliament.
He noted that the passage of the L.I. will fully operationalise the Act establishing the Complementary Education Agency, further demonstrating the government’s unwavering dedication to expanding access to alternative learning across the country.
