Ghana and India have pledged to deepen their long-standing bilateral cooperation, with a renewed focus on agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The commitment was made when the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), received the Open Letters of the High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of India to Ghana, His Excellency Surinder Bhagat, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
Warmly welcoming the Indian envoy, Hon. Ablakwa highlighted the strong historical bond between the two nations and underscored the necessity of expanding collaboration in priority growth areas.
He particularly urged closer partnership in emerging technologies, placing special emphasis on robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).
The Foreign Minister noted that strategic collaboration in these sectors would drive local innovation, accelerate technological advancement, support capacity building, and promote sustainable economic growth for mutual benefit.
On his part, His Excellency Surinder Bhagat expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality accorded him since his arrival.
He reaffirmed New Delhi’s determination to solidify ties with Accra, assuring that his diplomatic tenure would prioritize key sectors including agriculture, trade, and technology to advance shared development goals.
Hon. Ablakwa congratulated the High Commissioner-Designate on his appointment, wished him a fruitful mission, and assured him of the Ministry’s full support during his tour of duty in Ghana.
