Lamptey Unveils ‘Scientific Manifesto’ ahead of NDC regional elections

In a bid to reposition the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for future political victories, Lawrence Lamptey, an aspirant for the Greater Accra Deputy Regional Secretary position, has officially launched his campaign policy document titled the “Scientific Manifesto”.

Dubbed the “People’s Manifesto”, the policy outline seeks to address deep-seated issues regarding wealth distribution, political power, and grassroots participation within the opposition party, emphasizing that true political power must reside with the majority rather than a select few.

Speaking on the core philosophy behind his vision, Mr Lamptey defined politics as “concentrated economics,” highlighting that decisions surrounding societal resources must directly reflect the needs of the masses.

“The vital question of politics is the decision of the mode of production and distribution of the resources of society. It is basically a question of who owns the means of production and the means of distribution,” Lamptey stated. “If the means of production is in the hands of the majority, the means of distribution is fairly equitable; but if it falls in the hands of the few, distribution becomes polarized.”

Reflecting on past political developments, the Deputy Regional Secretary hopeful noted that previous economic models collapsed because decision-making processes were monopolized by a privileged elite who designed policies tailored solely for their own prosperity. He argued that progressive movements successfully challenged that order by demanding accountability from the top and insisting on popular participation across all levels of governance.

With the party preparing for crucial internal contests at the constituency, regional, and national levels, Lamptey stressed that the Greater Accra Region remains central to the fortunes of the NDC in upcoming national elections. He cautioned that the party must evolve beyond being merely an electoral machine that only engages its youth during election years.

“Government derives its mandate first and foremost from the party. It has to be accountable to it. The party must be an instrument for governance and not just an electoral machine where the party youth are only important during election years,” he emphasized.

Outlining his strategic focus, Lamptey committed to empowering party organs—including Branches, Wards, TEIN, as well as constituency and regional youth and women’s wings—to ensure a balanced distribution of influence within national decision-making structures. He maintained that his primary objective in the upcoming congress is to hand over authority to ideologically steadfast individuals who understand regional demographics and possess the strategic capacity to secure future victories for the party.

*Launching the SCIENTIFIC MANIFESTO (The People’s Manifesto)*

_THE ESSENCE OF POLITICS_

The vital question of politics is the decision of the mode of production and distribution of the resources of society. It is basically a question of who owns the means of production and the means of distribution. If the means of production, which includes land, capital, and labour, is in the hands of the majority, the means of distribution is fairly equitable; but if the means of production falls in the hands of the few, the means of distribution is polarized.
All other questions are concerned with the rationalization of the basic question: which category of people in society gets what and how.

Politics is simply, ” *concentrated Economics*”, and economics is about choices. The choices at all times depend on which persons and by what means decisions are made, which implies power relations.

The previous economic policy was overthrown  because only a few people were involved in the decision-making process; and they designed programmes for the prosperity of a few.

The Progressive minds undermined the system by calling for accountability from below to the top, and called for popular participation in the national political process.

We need to empower our Branches, Wards, TEIN,  Constituency and Regional Youth, women, and the less privileged  so that there will be a power balance that would create the conditions for them to have effective influence in the decision-making process in the country.

Government derives its mandate first and foremost from the party. It has to be accountable to it. The party must be an instrument for governance and not just an electoral machine, where the party youth are only important during election years. That is why the up-coming Constituency, Regional and National Congress is critical. Greater Accra is very critical to the fortunes of the NDC in future elections and requires leadership that understands organisation.

Our primary aim in this coming congress is to transfer power to the committed and ideologically stable person’s of the party. People who understand the demographics of their Constituencies and Region, and are capable of advancing the gains of the party in the future.

That is what I mean by the SCIENTIFIC MANIFESTO.
A Manifesto that highlights the People’s Power, and the needs of the people. It also highlights the strategies to be adopted for future victories. The Strategic Scientific Socialist is cut-out for this service.

GIVE POWER TO THE GRASSROOTS!

Trust the process!!!
