Chief Inspector Tuburu, a police officer who went to make an arrest, was assaulted by the person he was supposed to arrest in Japekrom, Bono Region.
Information available indicates that the officer went to the area to arrest a suspect who had allegedly assaulted his (suspect’s) fiancee.
Reporting the incident on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, our reporter Nana Kwame reported that the Chief Inspector went to the scene without a uniform.
The officer, being a well-known officer in the area, was not a challenge even without a uniform.
He said that a young lady reported to the police that her fiancee had assaulted her.
The Chief Inspector then followed her to arrest the suspect.
However, upon reaching the scene, the suspect refused to follow the Chief Inspector to the station.
He then allegedly assaulted the officer and pushed him to the ground.
The officer managed to hold onto the suspect, who is only known by his nickname, Sheday, until he called for a backup.
The suspect was apprehended and taken to the police station.
He was arraigned before a court, remanded into police custody, and set to return before the court in two weeks.
