A section of the Ghanaian public have expressed outrage at a South African gay couple, Lue and Rue, after the couple posted photos of themselves kissing at the Black Star Square in Accra.
Some have described the act as purely disrespectful because the location is a national symbol.

The two have, however, responded to the concerns raised, indicating that their action was in solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community in Ghana and in opposition to the controversial anti-gay bill.
In a post on social media, the couple indicated that their act is in line with the international Pride Month which represents the transformation of love.

The two are partnering with Triangle Project SA under their campaign ‘’ShowLoveGhana’’.
“We’re confronting the erasure and criminalisation of queer people by love-bombing Ghana’s iconic landmarks of freedom, showing that until queer people are free, no one truly is”.
